Federal investigators will weigh state of mind as one possible factor in health CEO’s Gulf of Alaska crash
Print article Andy Teuber, a prominent Alaska health CEO as well as a tourism business owner, is presumed dead after he disappeared in a small single-engine helicopter over the Gulf of Alaska on Tuesday. Teuber, 52, took off from Anchorage’s Merrill Field that afternoon knowing the Anchorage Daily News was working on a story detailing allegations by a former assistant against him that prompted his sudden resignation last week as head of Alaska’s largest tribal health organization. The Daily News has not been able to establish the specific purpose of Teuber’s flight on Tuesday. An attorney representing him declined to comment when reached by phone.

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) A coal-fired ferry that carries people and cars across Lake Michigan between Michigan and Wisconsin has been sold.
Interlake Holding Co. announced Wednesday that it bought the SS Badger, The Ludington Daily News reported.
The Middleburg Heights, Ohio-based company also purchased the tug-barge Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41, the mothballed ferry SS Spartan, and the Lake Michigan Carferry and Pere Marquette Shipping companies.
“I think we’ve always been interested in the Pere Marquette and the Badger,” said Mark Barker, Interlake president. “We’re just excited to acquire this vessel and this operation. It is really iconic and historic.”

Blazing a trail for safely integrating drones into the national airspace, a team from NASAâs Ames Research Center on Oct. 19 flew four uncrewed aircraft commonly called drones at Reno-Stead Airport in Reno, Nev.
The âout of sightâ tests, led by NASA in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration and several partners, were the latest waypoint in solving the challenge of drones flying beyond the visual line of sight of their human operators without endangering other aircraft. They were part of  NASAâs Unmanned Aircraft Systems traffic management research platform, led by Parimal Kopardekar, manager of NASAâs Safe Autonomous Systems Operations project.
Michigan teens send care packages to sailors on the Great Lakes amid coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has brought loss, disruption, and dramatic change, but it also has inspired many Michigan students to find unique ways to help make a difference in the lives of others.
Two high school students, who bonded over a love of the Great Lakes Region and freighters, wanted to show crew members aboard those fleets that their essential work was appreciated by creating Christmas care packages.
“Sailors are really important for the economy, but I don’t think people always show an appreciation or recognize them for their importance to our normal lives,” said Brendan Falkowski, 17, who lives in the Lansing area and attends Bath High School.
