Jack Sargeant and Mark Tami announce Christmas Card Competition winners

DEESIDE S Christmas card winner has been chosen after a unique design. The Leader previously reported that Alyn and Deeside representatives launched the annual Christmas card competition, but with a difference. The winning design featured the nativity scene and was drawn by Ellie Colecliffe, age 10 from Saltney Ferry C. P. School. Ellie’s card will be sent to residents in the constituency as well as further afield to the UK Labour leader Keir Starmer and Wales’ First Minister Mark Drakeford. Jack Sargeant MS said: “Congratulations to Ellie and to every child who entered this years Christmas card competition, I was blown away by all the hard work that had gone into the beautiful designs.

DEESIDE S representatives would like to see a regional approach to restrictions once it is safe to do so . MS Jack Sargeant and MP Mark Tami are urging people to follow the guidance to curb the spread of the virus. The new restrictions will apply to all of Wales. • All non-essential retail, including close contact services and all leisure and fitness centres will close at the end of trading on Christmas Eve. • All hospitality premises will close from 6pm on Christmas Day. • Tighter restrictions on household mixing, staying-at-home, holiday accommodation and travel will apply from December 28, after the five-day Christmas period.

ALYN & Deeside’s MP has joined forces with Chris Matheson, MP for neighbouring City of Chester, to condemn the UK Government as it withdraws a trade dispute with the USA. International Trade Secretary Liz Truss announced that as of January 1, the UK would no longer impose tariffs on American goods, levied as part of a trade dispute over unlawful subsidies to Boeing, whilst acknowledging that this is harmful to Airbus and the UK. The MPs decry “a devastating blow to the UK aerospace industry”, and “a colossal breach of faith with one of the few sectors where the UK currently enjoys a world-leading status.”
