The city of Port Orchard has secured more money from the Legislature to continue its Bay Street Pedestrian Pathway, and officials say the city is on track to begin construction in time to meet a deadline imposed by federal grants secured for the project.
The city secured $2 million from the Legislature in its recently concluded session to pay for the remainder of the project, which would complete the vision of a 1-mile-long route from the Port Orchard foot ferry to the Annapolis ferry. The city has completed segments of the pathway from the Port Orchard ferry to Westbay Center. The 14-foot-wide paved path will have two 5-foot bike lanes with 2-foot shoulders.

RIVESVILLE â Candidates for Rivesville Town Council shared their vision for the future in a forum at the Community Building.
West Virginia Sen. Mike Caputo, D-13, of Rivesville, served as moderator Thursday for prospective members that will appear on the June 8 ballot and as write-in candidates.
Barb Beatty, the current mayor, is running unopposed. Crystal Heldreth is a write-in candidate for council. BJ Smith is the only candidate running for council that is not a write-in. Write-in candidate Brandon Conrad runs a small business in the area.
