Letang, Rodrigues lead Penguins to win over Rangers

NEW YORK Kris Letang and Evan Rodrigues scored in the second period, and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Rangers 5-2 Thursday night.
Radim Zohorna and Jason Zucker each added a goal and an assist, Mark Jankowski also scored, and Letang and Rodrigues also each had an assist. Tristan Jarry stopped 22 shots to help Pittsburgh snap a two-game skid.
The Penguins had given up 15 goals in the two losses 7-5 at Boston last Saturday and 8-4 here to the Rangers on Tuesday night.
NHL: Nashville Predators at Detroit Red Wings
Viktor Arvidsson capped his third career hat trick with a penalty-shot goal on his 28th birthday to lead the visiting Nashville Predators to a 7-1 shellacking of the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.
Erik Haula and Nick Cousins both collected one goal and one assist while Mikael Granlund and Yakov Trenin also scored for the Predators, who posted seven unanswered goals. Goaltender Juuse Saros made 25 saves to backstop Nashville to its third consecutive win.
Thanks to a stretch in which they’ve collected wins in nine of 10 games and 11 of 13 outings, the Predators strengthened their hold on the fourth and final playoff spot in the Central Division.

Just 48 hours after laying the beat down on the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers were handed a loss of their own. The Penguins were able to rebound after Tuesday night’s effort, and smothered the Rangers for a good portion of the game in the offensive zone. Igor Shesterkin did his best to keep the Rangers in the game early in the first period, and made 27-saves throughout the evening.

Radim Zohorna tallied his first multi-point game on Thursday as he helped the Penguins beat the New York Rangers, 5-2.
Zohorna kicked off the night’s scoring with a goal in the first period. He would add an assist in the second period after setting up Evan Rodrigues for an insurance goal. Kris Letang, Jason Zucker and Mark Jankowski also added goals throughout the night to pad the Penguins’ lead. The Penguins’ defensive unit played a pivotal role in the win, forcing the Rangers to give the puck up 12 times in the game.
