New Blues co-owner Brett Johnson says incoming CEO Mark Ashton first impressed him at a USL board meeting a number of years ago and earmarked him at the time as someone he’d like to run any English club he might be involved in at a later date. Johnson has also been very impressed with manager Paul Cook and says this summer’s changes will extend beyond the playing and coaching staff to the Town s Portman Road stadium.
Ashton, 49, will join Town on June 1st with his time as CEO at Bristol City set to end the previous day.

Blues manager Paul Cook says he’s made his decisions on the players currently at the club and that nothing that happens in the final three games of the season will change his mind, adding that he could have released some of the squad with no regrets in his frustration following last Saturday’s dismal 0-0 home draw with AFC Wimbledon.
Quizzed on whether anything which happens in the matches at Swindon on Saturday, Shrewsbury next Tuesday and then at home to Fleetwood on the final day could change his thoughts on any individual, Cook said: “No, I’ve made my mind up 100 per cent. All the decisions have been made.

Consultation on LGBTQ campaigner Mark Ashton memorial approved Mark Ashton 1986
CC&G Mayor, DUP Councillor Mark Fielding
A motion calling for consultation with the family of LGBTQ campaigner Mark Ashton over a memorial within Causeway Coast and Glens Borough was passed by members of the Corporate Policy and Resources Committee.
Mark Ashton moved to Portrush at a young age and went to the catering college in the town.
After completing his studies, he moved to London in 1978 where he became an influential figure in the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners movement during the miners’ strike.
Mark was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and was admitted to Guy’s Hospital on January 30, 1987. He died 12 days later at the age of 26. A plaque was dedicated to him in London, with a garden in memory of him also built in Paris.
