A Lexington family got a reptilian surprise during a walk through their neighborhood Wednesday when a crocidilian creature darted toward their puppy.
Mark Arnold, facilities manager for Lexington Fayette Urban County Government, said he got a call from his wife and daughter while the two were walking their golden retriever near Roland Avenue and Eastland Parkway. The pup loves to reach down in the water, grab rocks and different things like that, Arnold said. Then I guess this little gator came after the dog. The dog, needless to say, came out of the creek.
Arnold said he thought they were joking at first, but they sent him photos, and sure enough a 3-foot dwarf caiman was sitting in the bottom of the creek.
