McDONOUGH â Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett received his first COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday morning at Southern Grace Hospice.
Scandrett said that by demonstrating his willingness to be inoculated, he hopes it encourages others in the Sheriffâs Office to also be vaccinated.
Scandrett is one of several law enforcement personnel in the county to âlead from the frontâ by showing others the importance of being vaccinated.
In December, Henry County Police Chief Mark Amerman, Don Ash, director of Henry County Emergency Management, Rodney Wiggins, Fire Department deputy chief, and Mike Ireland, Henry County Police deputy chief, joined hundreds of first responders and health care workers to get their first dose against COVID-19 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
McDONOUGH â The Henry County Police Department honored the memory and service of Sgt. David Crumpler with a memorial service Friday morning.
Crumpler, 60, died from COVID-19 on Jan. 7. He served the Henry County community for 26 years, holding many titles and participating in criminal investigations, bomb squad and SWAT Team.
HCPD officials called him a gentleman, teacher and sprinkle-loving, joy-filled servant.

McDONOUGH â The Henry County Police Department and community are mourning the loss of longtime officer Sgt. Rick Snook.
Snook, a 21-year veteran of the department, died suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday, Dec. 27 leaving behind a wife and four children.
âHenry County didnât lose an employee, we lost a genuinely invested public servant who loved this county,â department officials said on social media.
Henry County Police Department Chief Mark Amerman called Snook a really good cop and investigator.
âHe gave a lot of peace and closure to victimsâ families,â Amerman said. âWe are really going to miss him.â
