In a country with a population of over 138 crore people, the intensity of an agitation in one state or region should not be interpreted as the will of the people throughout the nation.
The government in Punjab has made it clear that the new farm laws will not be implemented within the state. Some other state governments have followed suit.
Granted, the NDA government s new farms laws may have irked a large section of agriculturists, especially in the northern states of Punjab and Haryana, but, as those who take a macro perspective have argued, there is a clear rationale behind the government thinking while formulating and enacting the legislation which was approved by Parliament.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu on Saturday organised its first-ever convocation ceremony in hybrid mode on January 9, 2021. The ceremony was organized in a hybrid mode wherein a total of 79 students were conferred with B Tech degrees in the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Out of the 79 graduates, 39 received their degrees while present on campus while 40 graduates were awarded their degrees online. JAMMU, Jan 7: IIT Jammu is organizing its maiden convocation ceremony on January 9, 2021 wherein its first batch of 79 students from Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Science Engineering will be conferred B Tech degrees.
This was informed here this evening during a press conference, which was addressed by Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chairman, Board of Governors- IIT Jammu along with Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director-IIT Jammu and Prof Ashoke K Sarkar, Dean-Academics of the Convocation Committee.
The convocation ceremony will be organized in hybrid mode that is both offline and online. Out of a total of 79 passing out students, the ceremony will host 38 students and their parents on campus while the other students will receive their certificates in a live convocation stream arranged by the institute.
