Georgetown University On the Front Lines of Social Justice “Having entered upon the stage of world politics and world commerce, we assume world-wide obligations. Our viewpoint can never be the same again.” – Fr. Edmund A. Walsh upon the founding of the School of Foreign Service, 1919 For over 100 years, SFS has trained students to fulfill their “world-wide obligations” as global citizens. In the field of social justice in particular, SFS alumni have spread across the globe to meet those obligations. Join us for a discussion between three SFS alumni who have spent their careers advocating for human rights internationally as well as in the United States.

Carlos Ignacio Navarro

Carlos joined the Private Enterprise Research Center (PERC) in the spring of 2018. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas- Pan American and a Master s of International Affairs from The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University where he focused his studies in Development Economics. While at the Bush School, Carlos was a recipient of The U.S. Congress-George H.W. Bush Fellowship (104th Congressional Fellowship). In the spring of 2017, Carlos presented his Bush School Capstone project, “Comparative Analysis of U.S., Russian, and Chinese activities in Latin America and the Caribbean,” to the U.S. Southern Command. His current research at PERC is focused on local-level economic indexes, economics of crime, and state and federal policy.
