A Q&A with Pennsylvania House Speaker Bryan Cutler

In his first term in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, House Speaker Bryan Cutler sponsored legislation to update the state’s lobbying disclosure law. More than a decade later, lobbying reforms are still a priority for Cutler, who is currently pushing an 11-bill package to overhaul the law. The legislative package looks to further separate the activities of lobbyists and

Things To Do: Enjoy Houston Chamber Choir s A Time to Draw Closer on May 9

The Houston Chamber Choir will perform A Time to Draw Closer, the season finale of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble s 2020-21 virtual season, on May 9 under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director Bob Simpson. Of special note, the concert will include the world premiere of The Passion of St. Cecilia, a work composed by Mark Buller and specially commissioned for the choir s 25th anniversary. The three-movement work relates to the legend of the patron saint of music and musicians. The acclaimed chamber music ensemble Apollo Chamber Players will join the choir for this performance.   To be asked to write a piece for the 25th anniversary is such an honor. Hot Tweets: UFC 261 fallout, plus an MMA draft!

MMA Fighting Share this story Photo by Alex Menendez/Getty Images UFC 261 took place this past Saturday and it was among the best cards in recent history so let’s talk all about it, plus a fun thought experiment to round things out. For those that need a refresher (which is totally understandable) 189 featured Conor McGregor winning his first UFC title, Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald putting on one of the five greatest fights of all time, and TWO flying knee KOs. UFC 217 had Georges St-Pierre dropping and then submitting Michael Bisping to win the middleweight title, T.J. Dillashaw nearly getting KOed and then coming back to stop Cody Garbrandt and reclaim the bantamweight strap, and Rose Namajunas upsetting Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the strawweight titl

The Keys to Higher States of Consciousness – WiredPRNews com

I travel to New York often, and I love going to see Broadway musicals. When The Book of Mormon opened, I was one of the first to buy tickets. Members of the audience were laughing all the way through. At the end, the cast got a standing ovation. Suddenly, the applause changed. Rather than a thousand people clapping separately, everyone began to clap in rhythm. Clap, clap, clap, clap. The rhythmic clapping become so insistent that the actors came back onstage for an encore. The clapping communicated approval to the actors, and they responded with another song. The neurons in your brain do something similar. They fire together in rhythmic patterns, communicating with each other across the brain. These patterns are measured in cycles per second, or Hertz (Hz). Imagine an audience clapping together slowly. That’s a slow brain wave, with millions of neurons firing together slowly. Imagine an audience clapping quickly. That’s a fast brain wave, with millions of neurons firing tog
