I have to tell you - I have been suffering since I wrote my article about the Chicago Symphony Orchestra s concert featuring Maestro Blomstedt and attended that concert back in March 2020, right before the pandemic. We all had to go through a lot during these months, and not being able to hold and attend live classical music events became a great challenge for the musicians as well as for their audiences.

MusicalAmerica - Chicago Symphony Is Back

Musical America In late May, for the first time in 14 months, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will perform before a live audience in Orchestra Hall. “We are truly delighted to welcome audiences back to Symphony Center…. to begin safely sharing the joy of live music with the community again,” said CSO President Jeff Alexander. Over three consecutive weekends between May 27 through June 13, the CSO will offer three distinct programs for brass and percussion, string ensembles, and orchestra, led by conductors Michael Mulcahy, Erina Yashima, and Edo de Waart. The programs will be recorded for possible future release on CSOtv. “Fanfare,” the inaugural program, is scheduled for May 27-30 and will feature music for brass and percussion under the baton of CSO trombonist Michael Mulcahy.
