Boulder Neighborhoods See Severe Street Flooding Sunday

A car shown in the video appears to have water up to its bumper.   Last week, flash floods hit Northern Colorado, leaving behind severe damage in the Poudre Canyon outside of Fort Collins. While water in the Poudre River is running murky with ash and debris, the City of Fort Collins has switched to Horsetooth Reservoir as its source for drinking water. At least five structures were lost in mudslides and flooding. Multiple people were unaccounted for, and sadly, two bodies have been recovered.

Mud and debris have damaged areas along Highway 14 due to flash flooding in the Poudre Canyon. Last updated at 6:02 p.m. Larimer County rescue crews have recovered the body of a woman who died Tuesday night during flash flooding in the upper Poudre Canyon. They also identified another person, an adult woman, who is still missing. The addition raises the total number of people unaccounted for to three. Search and rescue efforts will remain ongoing through the rest of the week, the sheriff’s office said in an update. Meanwhile, a 30-mile stretch of the Poudre River remains closed to recreation from the town of Rustic up to the mouth of the canyon just west of Fort Collins.
