A U.S. Army veteran from Bullitt County announced his campaign for Kentuckyâs 2nd U.S. Congressional District during a Saturday morning town hall meeting at Sportsmans Rod & Gun in Elizabethtown.
Christopher Henning, who retired from the military in 2019 while serving as a brigade operations sergeant major for the 4th Cavalry Brigade at Fort Knox, intends on running as a Republican candidate.
Kentuckyâs 2nd Congressional District comprises the entirety of 18 counties and partially covers three others. Hardin, Breckinridge, Bullitt, Grayson, LaRue, Nelson, Meade and Warren counties are some of the counties included in the district.
U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie currently represents Kentuckyâs 2nd District in U.S. Congress. Guthrie, a Republican, has been unopposed in most primary elections since he first won the seat in 2008. In 2020, Guthrie defeated his primary opponent Kathleen Free by a margin of more than 77 percentage points and went on to defeat Democratic opponent
