ARVADA, Colo. â For many horses, Rocky Mountain Horse Rescue in Arvada is a second chance. We rescue mostly now, owner surrendered horses from people who canât take care of them anymore, said Kris Nixon, who runs Rocky Mountain Horse Rescue.
When the horses walk onto the property, many are carrying a range of health issues. This is Mathilda. She came to us, she was owned by a man who did not care for her feet very well. She has limited mobility and also it is very sore, Nixon said.
Fire crews in Hampshire rescued two escaped horses this morning, one of which was found upside down in a ditch. Crews from Romey and Lyndhurst responded at 01:59AM to reports of a large animal in need of rescue in Ower, Romsey. Both horses are said to be safe and being checked over by vets. A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: Crews from Romsey and Lyndhurst, along with an HFRS Animal Rescue Advisor, were called at 1:59 this morning to a horse upside down in a ditch. On arrival crews found another horse loose on the side of the road, before Hampshire Police closed the A36 near Ower, between Shelley Lane and Whinwhistle Road.

Over €100,000 in State funding is to be allocated to animal welfare groups in Tipperary.
It’s part of a €3.2 million total funding announcement for the entire country which is the largest amount ever announced by the Department of Agriculture.
Seven organisations in Tipperary will benefit with PAWS Animal Rescue in Mullinahone receiving €48,500.
Roscrea SPCA is the next highest recipient with €20,000 followed by Mo Chara with €15,500.
Other organisations to receive funding are Tipperary Friends of Animals in Nenagh, Cappanagarrane Horse Rescue, The Haven Rescue in Clonmore and ‘Great Hounds in Need’ in Kilcash.
