By the time Bobbi Jo Reed dropped out of high school at 16, she’d already been an alcoholic for four years, broken her back in a driving accident involving alcohol, and gotten an abortion following a rape.
Her parents, a police officer and homemaker in Kansas City, Kansas, had lost control of their daughter, and she decided to strike out on her own. It wasn’t until she was 34 and had gone through much worse that she understood she had to change her life.

Bobbi Jo Reed, the subject of the eponymous documentary, along with Brent and Donna Jones, the directing and producing team, share the inspiring story of Bobbi Jo’s transformation from homelessness, addiction, and prostitution to healing hundreds of addicts in her Kansas City-based Healing House ministry.
We briefly discuss Bobbi Jo s testimony (watch the film for more) and then talk about the power of story and what hope means to the least of these in America. Healing House provides recovery housing to nearly 200 individuals every day in their thirteen private homes and two apartment buildings.

Wednesday night marked the culmination of the 2020 Home for the Holidays campaign, with the presentation of the campaign proceeds to Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Healing House, Faith House, and St. Michael Center for Veterans.
Representatives from the four benefiting charities and Acadian Home Builders Association gathered at Rock n Bowl in Lafayette for the presentation.
CEO of Acadian Home Builders Association Adrienne Fontenot explained that Wednesday s event was the end result of the efforts of everyone who helped make the 2020 campaign a success. It s just the culmination of the efforts of so many. From volunteers to the builder of the home, but most importantly to all of you in Acadiana who purchased tickets during one of the strangest years in our lifetimes, Fontenot stated.
