Bringing optimism into the new year, the Esplanade Association presents “Hatched: Breaking through the Silence,” a four-week audio and visual experience open to the public. After months of taking socially distanced walks and not seeing anything at the Hatch Memorial Shell I am excited to finally be able to stop on my walk and be able to watch a 15-minute show designed to lift my spirits with projection-mapped visuals and music composed by Maria Finklemeier and recorded by local musicians.

More than a dozen sites are being illuminated in Boston Tuesday evening in solidarity with cities across the nation memorializing the hundreds of thousands of lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced that it would host the COVID-19 Memorial in honor of those who have died from the coronavirus the day before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office.
The committee invited cities and towns around the country to light up their buildings and ring church bells at 5:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 19 in a national moment of unity and remembrance. A ceremony was held at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, where Biden delivered his final address as president-elect.

The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center recently announced the appointment of Mark Salamone, of Needham, to its board of trustees.
Salamone will serve on the finance committee. He is the principal/CFO of Alpha Pension Group Inc., a retirement plan consulting firm that specializes in educating companies and nonprofits on their retirement plan options. Salamone has a passion for working with plan fiduciaries using strategic data analytics to measure the success of the retirement plan and for developing action plans towards improving plan health and employee retirement outcomes. He loves to assist plan sponsors in developing initiatives designed to recruit, reward and retain talent and is always excited to play a role in an organization’s growth strategy.
