Temporary Shelter Created At The Windsor International Aquatic And Training Centre

A temporary shelter will be opening at the Windsor International Aquatic And Training Centre. Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Wajid Ahmed, has issued an outbreak order under the Health Promotion and Protection Act limiting the Downtown Mission’s continued operations in Windsor in response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak and rise in cases.  There are 70 total cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff. To support vulnerable persons in need of emergency shelter services, the City of Windsor and a coalition of partners are working to establish the temporary facility. It is anticipated that this site will be open and operational effective Wednesday, February 24th, 2021.
