PHOTO BY ROGER JACOB - As TT prepares to join the rest of the world in marking International Women s Day on Monday, Minister of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox is encouraging the public to know their status and get tested for HIV and Aids, as women and young girls were seen as vulnerable to infection. Cox explained the disparity in figures between HIV infection for men and women through cultural and economic gaps as she spoke during the launch for a brochure on disclosing one s HIV status, at the HIV/Aids Coordinating Unit, CL Financial Building, Port of Spain on Friday.

MSDFS meets with SATT Board to continue discussions on food security for the vulnerable Port-of-Spain - Minister of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox, met with representatives of the Supermarkets Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) on Wednesday February 24, 2021 to continue discussions on the Association’s role in building a robust framework for food security for the most vulnerable in our country. Minister Cox was accompanied by one of the Ministry’s Permanent Secretaries, Sheila Seecharan and Deputy Permanent Secretary Vijay Gangapersad. In welcoming the Minister and her team, President of the Supermarkets Association Rajiv Diptee, told his Board members that he was privileged to have ongoing dialogues with the Ministry and invited his membership to be fully engaged in the discussions.

Kaiso fraternity says goodbye to Singing Sandra Wednesday 3 February 2021 CATCHING UP: Veteran calypsonians Austin Superblue Lyons and Michael Sugar Aloes Osuna have a chat at the cultural tribute for the late Sandra Singing Sandra Des Vignes-Millington at Queen s Hall, St Ann s on Wednesday. - SUREASH CHOLAI Many stories were told in song and word on Wednesday of the late Sandra “Singing Sandra” Des Vignes-Millington’s generosity of spirit to younger artistes, her love for her community and country and her willingness to use her voice to tell the stories of those often unheard. In a cultural farewell at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s Road, Port of Spain, family, calypsonians, politicians, friends and well-wishers paid tribute and said goodbye to the two-time Calypso monarch. She died on January 28 at 64.
