Family Express acquires six Freedom Oil stores, another station in McCordsville

Valparaiso-based Family Express is expanding across Indiana again. The convenience store chain acquired six Freedom Oil gas stations in Kosciusko and Marshall counties, as well as a convenience store in McCordsville in central Indiana in a separate purchase. The terms of the deals were not disclosed. Leesburg-based Freedom Oil had run the gas stations near Warsaw, the orthopedic capital of the world, for nearly two decades. The company started in July 2002 after the Cobb family bought four locations from Gast Fuel and Oil. “When our family came to Warsaw in 2002 to purchase four gas stations, I couldn’t have imagined how we would have not only turned them into the new, updated stores they are now, but how this community would have welcomed our business and our family in such an inviting and caring way,” said Greg Cobb, owner of Freedom Oil, LLC. “Though we may be stepping away from the convenience store business, we have made Warsaw our home and will remain act

Growing demand for E-15 is music to Growth Energy s (corn) ears

Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Mar 17, 2021 1:04 PM After a rough 2020 for farmers and biofuel producers, Growth Energy is reporting good news about the growing demand for E15. Emily Skor is the CEO of Growth Energy, and she says the biofuel sector is hitting the ground running in 2021. “ The retail market has hit a major new milestone: 20 billion miles driven on E15. And this is a testament to the continued success of E15 at the pump. This past year, even as the nation grappled with a pandemic and drivers stayed home and stayed parked under stay-at-home orders in most states throughout the nation, the number of retail sites offering E15 actually grew by 10 percent, bringing the fuel to more than 2,300 stations across 30 states. And major retailers like Casey’s, Thorntons, Kwik Trip, and Family Express have all embraced the opportunity to offer an increasingly popular option that lends a competitive edge to any location. Most importantly, American drivers are showing they will ke

Higher Blends and Exports to Carry Ethanol out of Pandemic – Advanced BioFuels USA

by Chuck Abbott (Successful Farming) U.S. ethanol production plunged 13% last year due to the pandemic, costing the industry around $4 billion in sales. But it may recover fully by 2023, on the strength of larger exports and rising domestic use of higher blends of ethanol into gasoline, said the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute. Farm income will be $112 billion this year, far above the 10-year average, with generally strong commodity prices more than offsetting a $22-billion decline in farm subsidies from the record $46 billion of 2020, said the University of Missouri think tank. With farm finances on healthier footing, land values are forecast to rise 5% this year. The debt-to-asset ratio, a widely watched indicator of financial health, would decline for the first time since 2012.

E15 Reaches U S Milestone of 20 Billion Miles

Station information provided by Prime the Pump and Growth Energy WASHINGTON, D.C. E15 is gaining in popularity across the United States. According to Growth Energy, U.S. drivers logged 20 billion miles on the road using the 15-percent ethanol blended fuel. It is known at the pump as Unleaded 88. In an unprecedented year, hitting this milestone is a huge testament to the benefits E15 offers drivers who use it and retailers who sell it, Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor said. According to the retailers we work with day-in and day-out, selling E15 gives them a competitive advantage over other retailers, and most importantly, American drivers are showing they will keep coming back for a fuel that not only holds down costs, but also protects our air and our climate.
