Nearly 300 illegal migrants landed on British soil over the weekend, taking the total number of migrants who arrived in the UK this year to over 2,000.
On Saturday, the UK’s Border Force confirmed it had intercepted and brought ashore 185 illegal aliens after crossing the English Channel in small rubber boats from France.
The flow of migrants continued on Sunday, as another 92 people were taken in, according to BBC reporter Simon Jones.
An analysis conducted by the
Daily Mail found that the latest Channel crossings put the total number of illegals who have been recorded to have reached Britain this year to 2,293, more than the entire year of 2019, which saw 1,890 arrive.

Nearly 300 migrants have lost their lives trying to reach England across the Channel, according to a study by an inter-governmental organisation.
Research by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) found the migrants died on the coast of northern France and Belgium or shortly after their arrival in the UK or drowned in the English Channel between 1999 and 2020. The number of deaths is equivalent to more than one a month.

The Guardian, said that immigration minister Chris Philp informed local leaders that the government will begin reviewing support given to migrants “with immediate effect”.
“We will be sharing details of the current number of cases for review with local authorities to assist them with planning,” the internal Home Office letter states.
