On February 28, with assembly elections less than a month away, the Congress-led alliance in Assam got a boost when the Bodo People’s Front joined it.
Until then, the “mohajut” – as the alliance is called – included the All India United Democratic Front that largely represents the interests of Assam’s Muslims of Bengali origin, three Left parties and a newly formed regional party in addition to the Congress.

New Delhi: The vociferous protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in Assam have led to the birth of three regional parties in the poll-bound state.
Of these, the Anchalik Gana Morcha has entered into an alliance with the Congress and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) to contest the assembly polls, scheduled for this April-May. The two others â the Raijor Dal (RD) and Asam Jatiyo Parishad (AJP) â have joined hands to fight the polls as a combined anti-CAA forum against the ruling BJP.

GUWAHATI: The Assam Congress announced that it will build a memorial of the anti-CAA movement in Guwahati if voted to power in the upcoming state assembly polls.
Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora in a tweet wrote, In the coming months, Guwahati will see a new landmark: a grand memorial in memory of the anti-CAA movement to be built by the incoming Congress government.
