Albany, N.Y. U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin showed once again today that his bid to be the Republican nominee for governor in 2022 has strong support from party leaders.
Zeldin, who represents the District 1 of New York in the House of Representatives, won a Republican straw poll today on the governor’s race by a large margin. He took 85% of the vote.
To be clear, the vote is nonbinding and does not automatically make Zeldin the nominee. But it does demonstrate his strength even 17 months before the election.
