In non-pandemic political news, the recall campaign against Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant is gearing up, and another candidate is jumping into the crowded Seattle mayoral race. It s getting pretty hot, said Joni Balter, host of Seattle CityClubâs Civic Cocktail on the Seattle Channel â and she wasn t talking about the weather. There s even bipartisan talk of a special legislative session to help Pierce County get out of this phase. I bet that doesn t happen. The numbers don t support it. I think the governor is going to find a way to fix this.

Several Seattle millennials are challenging political veterans with deep pockets, and contests like the Seattle mayoral and King County executive races are shaping up to be generational battles.
The Seattle Times reports the leading candidates in the mayor s race are worth anywhere from $0 (Andrew Grant Houston) to $15 million (former Seattle City Council Member Bruce Harrell). According to the
Times, which analyzed candidate disclosures with the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission in April, most of the remaining top contenders are worth less than $500,000.
