UK’s largest community-owned solar park to come online next year
The Ray Valley Solar project in Oxford is expected to come online next autumn, after Triodos Bank confirmed lending for what is expected to be the UK’s largest community-owned solar park.
Low Carbon Hub believes that surplus energy produced from Ray Valley Solar will create more than £10m of community benefit funding
Ray Valley Solar will be located near Arncott in the northeast of Oxford. The project will have a total installed capacity of 19.2MWp once complete and will aim to generate enough electricity to power over 6,000 homes annually.

A few months into the new administration, the federal government is off to a roaring start on climate change. President Biden signed executive orders related to climate change in his early days in office, and the White House just introduced a proposal that elevates climate solutions alongside infrastructure and job goals.
The latest exciting development in climate policy is the introduction of legislation called the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (H.R. 2307). The bill hit the House of Representatives on April 1, led by Florida Democrat Rep. Ted Deutch and 28 original cosponsors. We hope Rep. Peter DeFazio will join his colleagues in cosponsoring this important bill soon.

A recent Associated Press article reported that the business community is urging President Biden to double down on establishing ambitious, but achievable, goals for reducing fossil-fuel emissions. You can help by contacting the White House to join the push.
The best next step to reduce emissions is to “put a price on carbon” as an increasing fee on those emissions at the source (mine, well, port of entry) and returning those fees to every American as a monthly dividend check. U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Florida, recently reintroduced the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (EICDA, House Resolution 2307) with 36 co-sponsors in the House. This legislation does just that and has been supported by the nearly 200,000 members of Citizens’ Climate Lobby for several years.
