The word “Ugadi” is a combination of two words “Yuga” (age) and “Adi” (beginning). The term Ugadi is derived from the word Yugadi. Primarily, the term Yugadi is the combination of two great words: Yuga, which means age or period; and Adi, which means the beginning of something. Therefore, Ugadi means the origination of the New Year.

Maharashtra, on Monday, reported 51,751 new coronavirus positive cases. The total number of cases in the state reached 34,58,996. As many as 258 patients succumbed to the virus and took the death toll to 58,245. There are presently 5,64,746 active cases in the state.Mumbai recorded 6,905 newcases and 43 deaths on Monday. Two new facilities with a collective capacity of 375 beds have become functional in Worli. MUMBAI: Forex and money markets will remain closed on Tuesday on account of Gudi Padwa .
The rupee fell for the sixth straight session and settled 32 paise down at 75.05 against the US dollar on Monday, as the local currency plunged below 75 against the US dollar for the first time in eight months on Monday.
At the interbank forex market, the local unit opened at 74.97 against the greenback and traded in the range of 74.78 to 75.14 during the day. On Friday, the rupee had settled at 74.73 per dollar.
