Major project begins at Y-12 to shrink high-security footprint
Oak Ridge, Tenn. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC, officials broke ground on the West End Protected Area Reduction project (WEPAR) at Y-12 National Security Complex, which, when completed, will reduce the size of the high-security protected area on the site by approximately 50%. The project supports efforts to modernize Y-12’s high-security boundary and includes the installation of new sections on the perimeter intrusion, detection, and assessment system (PIDAS) as well as a new entry control facility.

Chick-fil-A announces new Maryville restaurant to open on April 7
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (April 5, 2021) – A new Chick-fil-A restaurant is slated to open for business in Maryville on Wednesday, April 7. Chick-fil-A Ò, Inc. has selected Frankie Turner as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A West Broadway Avenue. Turner will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, cultivating relationships with local organizations and neighboring businesses, and serving guests. Chick-fil-A West Broadway Avenue is located at 1767 W Broadway Ave, at the intersection of U.S. Route 129 and U.S. Route 411, and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

A long line of vehicles greeted the grand opening at 6:30 a.m.
Customers started getting in line late Wednesday night and by 6:15 a.m. Thursday, there were about 60 vehicles waiting to be among the first customers to order.
The line of vehicles had grown to at least 75 vehicles by 7 a.m.
Mall personnel and Chick-fil-A employees were helping with traffic control and Redding police would drive by periodically throughout the day to assess the situation.
The first two customers in line were Zach Wagner, 17, of Redding, and Tommy Zanini, 17, of Italy, a foreign exchange student at Enterprise High School. Wagner also goes to Enterprise. They were in a silver Toyota pickup.
