It was a win for both teams, so I guess that makes it a win-win for the Virginia Cavaliers and a win-win-win for UVA fans, who were able to see their team pull ahead early and cruse to a 14-9 victory vs. the Army Black Knights in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday afternoon.
Army was originally scheduled to take on UMass this weekend, but that game was canceled last Sunday due to a campus-wide 14-day shutdown in Amherst. Coach Lars Tiffany, who said after last week’s debut victory over Towson that he hoped his team would be able to play his weekend, connected with Army coach Joe Alberici and the teams decided to play their first matchup since 1985. The game was supposed to be played Saturday at Kloeckner Stadium, but a forecasted ice storm forced it to the Lower Turf field on Sunday.
