BREWSTER A nonprofit group that includes former employees and alumni of the iconic Cape Cod Sea Camps is hoping to raise enough interest and money to buy the 125-acre property and continue to run it as a summer camp.
“Pretty much every member’s life was touched by the camp,” said Jim Fay, president of the Brewster Flats Foundation, which formed in December in response to the announced sale in November.
Fay and his wife, both teachers at a private school in Deerfield, have owned a home in Brewster for 10 years. They met at Cape Cod Sea Camps in 2004, when both were camp counselors, and worked there every summer since.

WORCESTER The cannabis industry is starting to take root on the Cape and Islands as several more local businesses received final license approvals Thursday from the state Cannabis Control Commission.
Hennep Inc., a retail marijuana store in Provincetown; CCC Wellfleet NV LLC, a retail store in Wellfleet; Emerald Grove, a retail store in Eastham; and ACK Natural, a medical marijuana dispensary on Nantucket, all were given the green light by the agency that oversees cannabis businesses in the state at its monthly meeting on Thursday.
The businesses will have to go through final inspections by the commission before opening.
