Xavier Becerra came to Ohio to make sure we don’t “throw away money.” The U.S. Health and Human Services secretary said Thursday that more than 200,000 uninsured Ohioans now qualify for coverage under Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) with no premiums. Another 114,000 currently enrolled in Obamacare probably can save money because of the stimulus legislation passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden, Becerra said. “There are too many Ohio families who don’t know that they can qualify,” Becerra said. “Why throw away money, especially when it’s to buy quality health care insurance?” He urges low-income Americans to check healthcare.gov to see if they qualify under new rules implemented under the stimulus plan, known as the American Rescue Act, approved in March. The opportunity ends in August, unless extended by Congress.
