ADRIAN The Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority’s E-Race the Stigma 5K Run, Walk and Kids Dash will return to the streets of downtown Adrian this year, only a couple of months later than usual.
In order to keep participants, organizers and spectators healthy and safe, the 5K has been rescheduled to the fall, with a new start date of Sept. 26. As of now, organizers are expecting the run, walk and dash event to be held in person.
“We are hoping that once we reach the month of September, there will be little to none restrictions in place, given the trending of vaccinations in the county,” said Greg Adams, organizer of the 5K.
The Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) annual two-mile Fun Run/Walk is back on for 2021 and scheduled for Saturday, June 26. Race time is at 8:30 a.m. from the west side of the city square in Lake City. Also returning is the Kids Dash for children nine and under, which will take place at 8:15 a.m. Runners for the dash will sign up the day of the event. Pre-registration for the Fun Run/Walk is now open and is only $10 online if completed prior to May 31. Paper registration is $15. After May 31, the registration fee increases to $20 per person. T-shirts will be given to all registered participants. Adult and youth sizes will be ordered for late registrations and will not be given out on race day. Bottled water will be furnished by SMCH. There are awards for overall winners and the top two finishers in 11 categories. Men and women will be broken out into separate classes.
