Asttina Mandella’s Snatch Game character would’ve been one of the most controversial choices in herstory.
“I had a few plans, but I was either going to do Mel B – she’s from Leeds and so are my drag mother and dad – or Ricky Thompson,” Asttina revealed after her elimination.
“My third one, because I look like her and it would’ve been nice and controversial, was Azealia Banks.”
When Asttina made her audition tape for the series, she tried on Azealia’s classic ensemble from her 212 video – complete with pigtails and the striped jumper – and was shocked at the resemblance.

The last ten months have been dominated by comfort and convenience. Stuck at home, with our social interactions limited to Zoom, we have turned more and more to loungewear for our day-to-day wardrobe. Amidst this, though, more surprising categories saw strong growth. While elasticated waistbands and softer fabrics are unlikely to go anywhere soon, consumers are also increasingly invested in jewelry.
The rise of men’s jewelry can be seen as a contrast to the predictable embrace of loungewear, but it also allows wearers to easily transform their day-to-day outfits. “Dressing with a high/low attitude has never felt more relevant, and a piece of fine jewelry instantly elevates a more casual look,” explains Damien Paul, head of menswear at Matchesfashion, which has increased its men’s jewelry category by more than 50% for Spring/Summer 2021.

Medicines regulator Sahpra has approved the Umoya OxERA device, a new medical innovation created to help save Covid-19 patients in hospitals.
The Oxera (Oxygen-Efficient Respiratory Aid) device is a proudly South African innovation developed by a group of volunteers known as the Umoya Project.
It s an all-in-one device using an oxygen accumulator bag, anaesthetic mask and an adjustable mechanical peep valve that is simple, cost-effective and oxygen efficient.
The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra) has approved the OxERA device for emergency Covid-19 use.
A portable and cost-effective device that delivers consistently high levels of oxygen to Covid-19 patients and helps keep their lungs from collapsing has been approved by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra).
OxERA oxygen supply deviceThe OxERA (oxygen-efficient respiratory aid), is effective where there are a large number of Covid-19 patients yet a lack of skilled staff, ICU and high care facilities; and insufficient bulk oxygen supplies. It effectively bridges the gap between current standard oxygen therapy via face masks and ICU-based non-invasive or mechanical ventilation, while requiring no more oxygen flow than a standard face mask.
The device was developed by a group of East London-based volunteers that includes doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs. The has now approved the OxERA device for emergency Covid-19 use, which will be manufactured and distributed by Gabler Medical.
