Asian American & Pacific Islander Community Conversation To Be Hosted By Perseverance Theatre

To celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Perseverance Theatre is hosting a Community Conversation led by Artistic Director, Leslie Ishii, on May 26 at 6 p.m. AKDT. Additional panelists include Adriana Li, Dennis Arashiro, and Edric Carrillo.
The event is free and open to the public and will be live-streamed to Perseverance Theatre s Facebook and YouTube. A link will also be posted on the webpage, ptalaska.org.
Adriana Li is a Program Coordinator and Instructor of IMPACT and IMPACT: Ability programs, since 2017. She has worked at Triangle, Inc. since January 2017, serving adults with disabilities to focus on advocacy and independence in the workplace. Navigating this new world of social distancing spawned the innovative solution to bring vAct s award-winning production 1 Hour Photo across Canada and to EWP. The production is the fourth offering of the Virtual 55th Anniversary Season of East West Players, Between Worlds, led by EWP Producing Artistic Director Snehal Desai.
vAct collaborated with a Vancouver based film production company, Brightlight Pictures, to produce a high quality, 75 minute cinematic adaptation of 1 Hour Photo accompanied by a live talkback with Tetsuro Shigematsu.

Imagine Little Tokyo Awards Short Story Contest Winners Named

The eighth annual Imagine Little Tokyo short story contest will celebrate the winners in three categories on Sunday, May 23, at 1 p.m. through the Zoom platform in a free program hosted by the Japanese American National Museum.
The contest is presented by the Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTSC) in partnership with the museum’s Discover Nikkei project.
Comedian and ventriloquist Mike Palma will take the emcee reins in an exciting program featuring noted theatre actors Greg Watanabe, Jully Lee and Eiji Inoue providing dramatic readings of the winning stories in the categories of English language, Japanese language and youth (18 and younger).
