New hotel opens near Olive Oil Grill and First Watch

A new hotel has opened in the Camp Hill area.
The Comfort Suites Camp Hill - Harrisburg West opened at 100 Bar South Drive in East Pennsboro Township on Dec. 30.
The hotel has 113 rooms including 16 one-bedroom suites with full kitchenette, meeting facilities and a fitness center. State College-based Hospitality Asset Management Company will provide daily operational management and oversight for the property.
The hotel is built on the site of the former Senate Plaza building and is located in the Camp Hill Commons, which also includes the Centerpointe Apartments, First Watch, Starbucks, Fons Nail & Spa, Supercuts, Tonino’s Pizza, Olive Oil Grill, Sprint and Bronze Bunny Airbrush & Sugar Spa.

ENOLA, Pa. A 57-year-old Cumberland County man has been charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting his girlfriend during an argument about him recording her without permission, East Pennsboro Township Police say.
Franklin R. Kuhn Jr., of Enola, is also charged with aggravated assault, persons not to possess firearms, recklessly endangering another person, and interception, disclosure, or use of wire, electronic, or oral communications in the incident, which occurred around 10 a.m. on Jan. 7 on the 100 block of East Shady Lane, according to police.
Kuhn initially told officers the victim was struck when his gun fell off a shelf and fired accidentally, but he later allegedly admitted to shooting the woman after investigators told him they wanted to check his hands for gunshot residue, according to the criminal complaint affidavit.

A number of stores and other businesses are set to open this year.
REI Co-op will open its first store in the midstate in the Silver Creek Plaza in Hampden Township in the fall.
PaulB Hardware Mechanicsburg will make its debut in the Harrisburg area when it opens in the fall at 121 Gettysburg Pike in Upper Allen Township.
Planet Fitness, Five Below, Big Lots, and TJ Maxx are expected to open this year at the Hershey Square shopping center in Derry Township.

Eight large projects in Cumberland, Adams, Perry and Franklin Counties were awarded more than $8 million combined last week.
The grants are part of a long of list of projects across the state that were awarded money for redevelopment though the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The grant program is administered by the State of Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget and is for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

Last week, 13 large projects in York County were awarded more than $14 million combined.
The grants are part of a long of list of projects across the state that were awarded money for redevelopment through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The grant program is administered by the State of Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget and is for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.
Grant money has been awarded from the state through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program since 1986.
