WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Thirteen local school districts from seven different counties came together Monday night as one voice to oppose several pieces of state legislation that do not support public education. This is the first joint school board meeting of its kind in Indiana.
Educators across the state have been pushing hard for more public school funding since the
MONON, Ind. – Representatives from 13 different school corporations in areas surrounding Tippecanoe County gathered at North White High School Monday evening to pass a resolution jointly protesting bills currently moving through Indiana legislature regarding education and school choice.
Those present voted on resolutions opposing the bills House Bill 1005 and Senate Bills 412 and 413, which aim to expand school choice options in Indiana by increasing income eligibility for school choice vouchers, increasing scholarship amounts and creating a new Education Scholarship Account program, according to the IndyStar.
HB 1005 passed the House Feb. 16 and is currently under consideration by the Senate. SB 413 passed the Senate Feb. 23 and is currently in the House.
2nd person arraigned in shooting death of Flint baby, grandmother

FLINT, MI - A second person has been arraigned on a charge related to the Dec. 26 deaths of a grandmother and grandson killed in a drive-by shooting in Flint.
Michelle Harvey, 28, was arraigned Thursday, Jan. 7, in Genesee District Court on a single count of accessory after the fact to a felony in connection with the shooting deaths of Belinda Hart, 45, and her 10-month-old grandson Romelo Jones Jr.
Harvey’s bond is set at $5,000. She is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause conference Thursday, Jan. 21.
