Thursday's Daily Pulse

Thursday s Daily Pulse | 3/11/2021 How will Florida benefit from the COVID-19 relief package? The U.S. House of Representatives gave final approval to the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan on Wednesday afternoon. The plan, which passed the U.S. House and U.S. Senate along party lines, is the largest COVID-19 relief package to date and likely the last. Under the plan, about 85% of Americans will receive a $1,400 stimulus check. The plan also extends $300 a week in federal unemployment benefits until September. Florida is poised to receive $17.33 billion from the package the fourth highest amount after California, Texas and New York. More from WFTV and the Tampa Bay Times.

City of Tampa proposing to sell Tampa Police headquarters downtown A prime piece of downtown real estate may soon hit the market, forcing Tampa police officers to relocate. and last updated 2021-03-09 15:09:23-05 TAMPA, Fla. — A prime piece of downtown real estate may soon hit the market, forcing Tampa police officers to relocate. The distinct blue building, located at 411 N. Franklin St., has been home to the Tampa Police Department for more than two decades. City of Tampa officials say the building is past its prime and in need of $35 million in repairs. “That building is in need of such repairs that the millions of dollars that it would cost to repair it, it’s not economically feasible,” said Sal Ruggiero, Deputy Administrator of Infrastructure Services. “It’s better to go to a new structure.”
