Detectives Investigating Triple Shooting in Capitol Heights That Leaves Two Dead | Southern Maryland News Net

February 22, 2021 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is working to determine the circumstances of a double fatal shooting Friday night in Capitol Heights. The names of the two decedents, both adult males, will be released once they are identified and their families are notified. A third adult male was also shot. He remains hospitalized. Preliminarily, his injuries do not appear life-threatening. On Friday, February 19, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of East Capitol Street and Yacht Place for a reported vehicle collision. The officers discovered the two decedents inside of a car with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead on the scene. The third male who was shot was located outside of the car and was transported for treatment.

Their article didn’t include maps of the Washington region, so here’s a comparison of intersections in different parts of our area. Why intersection types matter Street networks are an important part of urban form, both for pedestrians and for public transit. In traditionally gridded cities, like New York, a regular pattern of long, straight roads provides natural routes for buses and good connectivity for pedestrians to get where they’re going without taking indirect routes. When three-way intersections predominate, buses often have to follow winding, indirect routings to serve communities for example the A22 in Prince George’s County or many routes overlap on the small number of straight through streets, such as Rte 7 and US-1 in Northern Virginia.

Processing… In her pre-pandemic life, Katherine White would commute from her home on Capitol Hill to her office in Georgetown on her bike every weekday. The route would take her down East Capitol Street NE and past the U.S. Capitol Grounds. From there, White would choose, based on the pedestrian density, to either head toward one of the wide walking paths to get to the base of the hill or thread through the bollards and ride down the parking area.
