A BOOMING Colchester takeaway business has made the final of the British Takeaway Awards - the Oscars of the takeaway world. Burgers, Wings and Ribs, which launched inside a converted double decker bus back in May last year in Grange Way, is one of five finalists to make the shortlist in the south east region. The finalists were voted through to this stage by the public and are now in the running to win Best Takeaway in their area. They re each also in with a chance to win the coveted Best Takeaway in Britain award. This year’s British Takeaway Aawards, held in London in September, will pay tribute to the hardworking restaurants which have adapted during the pandemic to deliver a taste of normality to those working from home, self isolating or simply looking for their favourite food as lockdown forced restaurants to close to diners.

Aamal Company (Aamal), one of the region’s leading diversified companies, yesterday announced a net profit of QR68.1m for the first quarter of 2021.
The Group also reported a revenue of QR312.7m, down by 16.4 percent compared to QR374.0m during the same period last year due to lower sales within its Trading and Distribution segment amid the ongoing pandemic.
Aamal’s gross profit was down by 14.1 percent to QR95.0m compared to QR110.7m reported in Q1 2020. Net underlying profit margins have increased by 0.9 percentage points to 18.4 percent.
