PLEASANT VALLEYÂ â Amid what s been an up-and-down first few weeks of the season for East Fairmont High softball, junior Blair Nuzum has kept right on ticking as one of the Bees foundational leaders, both on and off the field.Â
She s been the Bees No. 1 arm in the circle all year long and atop the team s order at the plate. Even when she doesn t get the start at pitcher, Nuzum is a more-than-capable defensive option who can play in either the infield or the outfield.Â

FAIRMONT â As a retired bank officer, Nancy Bickerstaff said it was always about giving back. She asked Brad Merrifield, former mayor of Fairmont, how did we get into this mess?
âI know how, you kept saying for two years âyou need to do something with that house,ââ said Merrifield.
RACHEL â When students attend Marion County Technical Center, their day starts by clocking in and receiving their new assignments.
Thatâs because many of the programs at the Technical Center operate as simulated workplaces, which give students real-world experience to learn hands-on.
âOur programs are a lot of hands-on,â said Jay Michael, principal of Marion County Technical Center. âItâs for those ones that maybe they need to get up and move around sometimes during the day and thatâs what we offer. They have to do their classwork, thereâs classes that they have to take, but the other part of it is they get the opportunity to do hands-on.â
