A 100-acre tract of mostly wooded land along a native trout stream in Clearfield County has gained permanent protection through the donation of a conservation easement.
Jane McCartney, a Sister of Mercy, donated the easement to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for her family’s homestead that features about 6,000 feet of stream front along Bell Run, a stream that supports naturally reproducing populations of trout and has been designated as a wild trout water by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The stream is a tributary in the headwaters of the West Branch Susquehanna River.
