ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) â Two persons were injured Monday afternoon in what turned out to be the third injury crash of the day in Branch County.
The Branch County Sheriffâs Department says the crash happened at 3:19 p.m. on Fisher Road east of Hoopes Road in Algansee Township.
They say an eastbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Emmett George Johnson Junior of Hobart, Indiana was traveling to fast in a curve.
Johnson then lost control, crossed the center line, left the road and struck a tree. He was cited for impeding traffic.
Johnson and passenger 19-year-old Kendra Kling of Reading were treated at the scene and later went on their own to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) â Three persons suffered minor injuries on Monday afternoon when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Fremont and Copeland Roads in California Township.
The Branch County Sheriffâs Department says the crash happened at about 2:25 p.m. when a east bound vehicle driven by 27-year-old Jay Phillip Michael of Kendallville, Indiana failed to yield for a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a north bound vehicle driven by 86-year-old Norbert Kunk of Coldwater.
The two drivers along with a passenger in the Kunk vehicle, 86-year-old Martha Jean Kunk of Coldwater, were all taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.

CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) â The Branch County Sheriffâs Department says a Bronson woman was injured Monday morning when she fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle and struck a tree in California Township.
The crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on Fremont Road north of Waters Road.
The Sheriffâs Department says 46-year-old Merideth Kaye Goodsell was heading north on Fremont Road when she fell asleep.
Her vehicle then crossed the center line, left the road and struck a tree.
Goodsell had to be extricated from the wreckage with the jaws of life by the Fremont Fire Department.
Commissioners approve body cams for BCSD Correction Officers By Jim Measel

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved a request from the Branch County Sheriffâs Department to purchase eight body cameras for Corrections Officers during Fridayâs meeting.
Jail Captain Fred Blankenship told Commissioners during last weekâs work session they got a quote of over $9,600 from Equature of Southfield, Michigan for the cameras, mountings and software package. The funds will come from Capital Outlay/Contingencies.
There would an annual investment of almost $4,500 which would be part of the county budget.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler said they want to have body cameras for their road deputies in the future once they see how these cameras work on the corrections officers.
