The province has announced financial support for two innovative virtual learning projects taking place at Lambton College.
On May 25, it was announced that $472,234 would support a pair of projects to provide Lambton College students with more choice and more access to post-secondary education and retraining opportunities, part of the province’s Virtual Learning Strategy announced last December.

“These projects will help ensure our postsecondary institutions have the tools they need to create great curriculum online,” said MPP Bob Bailey. “By increasing virtual course offerings, we’re helping the next generation of workers, innovators, researchers, and leaders develop the skills and training they need to succeed in their careers, when and where they need it most.”

Amherstburg Mayor Aldo DiCarlo remembers as a 12-year-old in the 1970s riding the original bus service connecting his town to Windsor.
That was the Sandwich, Windsor & Amherstburg Railway, which began in the 1880s as a streetcar service between the three communities. It eventually evolved into a municipal bus transit system, dropping service to Amherstburg sometime in the 1970s. In 1977, the SW&A was renamed Transit Windsor.

Transit Windsor and Amherstburg are now poised to enter into negotiations to resume that old relationship, with Transit Windsor contracted to provide a bus route serving the town and connecting it with Windsor and LaSalle, which welcomed Transit Windsor service in 2017.

Some health-care services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham and Wallaceburg hospitals will be unavailable Monday because of the Victoria Day holiday.
Outpatient diagnostic tests will not be available, but these departments will be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

Ambulatory care services, outpatient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, the diabetes education centre, the transient ischemic attack and coronary artery disease clinics, the pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed.
The Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the annual Business Excellence Awards.
The Chamber says the awards are the “Premier Business Event of the Year, recognizing successful businesses and people and the contributions they make to the growth and prosperity of our economy.”
The award gala was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
