HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Daughters of the American Revolution will be recognized for their contribution to historic Glenwood Cemetery by Mayor Tommy Battle on Monday.
The celebration will take place on December 14, at 2:30 p.m. The group recently donated $10,000 dollars to help revitalize Glenwood Cemetery.
WAFF is told, members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Twickenham Town Chapter of NSDAR will be recognized for their fundraising campaign. Glenwood Cemetery is the largest African American city-owned cemetery in the southeast United States.

The History Center was recently contacted by a man who had acquired a short letter written in Lockport on July 16, 1834. The letter was originally sent to Rufus Fanning in Lewiston from Mess. Gardner & Morse, Counsellors, in Lockport. Fanning then returned it with a reply. The letter concerns papers being served on Henry H. Hill, town of Niagara. The man who has the letter expressed an interest in knowing more about the men whose names are contained in it, so here is what has been learned about them.
PINEY FLATS, TN - Edwin Dennis Lindamood, age 82 of Piney Flats TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was born on September 9, 1938, to the late Dennis and Ruby Lindamood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Janie Lindamood and his son David Lindamood. He was a graduate of Bluff City High School. He was a member of Enterprise Methodist Church in Piney Flats, TN.
Ed had many passions, one of which was welding. He was a Master Welder by trade for more than 50+ years and loved to teach others how to weld. He also loved old cars, especially Hudsons, and loved to get his 1937 Hudson Terraplane out any chance he had and just drive to nowhere in particular. He loved to go to car shows and hardly ever missed the car shows in Pigeon Forge and Elizabethton TN.
