Review: Big Trails Great Britain & Ireland Volumes 1 &2. Edited by Kathy Rogers and Stephen Ross. Published by Vertebrate. £17.99 & £20.00 THE second of these guides to Big Trails in Great Britain and Ireland has just been published by Vertebrate but I felt it best to review both books as together they cover 50 of the best long-distance walks in these countries. Several of the trails are household names – Cleveland Way, Dales Way, Offa’s Dyke Path, Pennine Way, Wainwright’s Coast to Coast and the West Highland Way. However, there are many other lesser known trails that look very exciting for the long distance walker or walking holidays. Amongst these are the Channel Islands Way circumnavigating the five islands of Alderney, Guernsey, Herm, Jersey and Sark a total of 165 kilometres (103 miles) over eight days walking plus travel times between the islands.
