N.J. man charged with attempted murder in slashing of bicyclist, cops say Updated 7:23 AM; A Passaic County man was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree attempted murder in the slashing of a bicyclist, authorities said. Peter Perez Jr., 21, of Clifton, was also charged with second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree terroristic threats and weapons offenses in the April 7 attack, police said. Perez is accused of slashing the victim shortly after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Sheridan and Wilson Avenues in Clifton, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi. A 43-year-old Clifton resident, suffered slash wounds to his forearm, hand and fingers, Valdes and Rinaldi said in a statement. He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson with injuries not considered life-threatening, they said.
