STATELINE, Nev. Barton Health purchased the former Lakeside Inn & Casino for $13.3 million according to the Douglas County Recorder’s Office.
The deal for the Stateline casino that closed at the outset of the coronavirus outbreak was recorded on May 4.
Barton operates an urgent care across U.S. Highway 50 adjacent from the former casino near Kingsbury Grade.
Barton said in a statement that it purchased the property to “further its long term goals of expanding access to medical care and widening an integrated, bi-state health system presence in the region.”
Expanding the medical campus in Nevada allows Barton to offer many more services including lower cost outpatient services due to the lessened regulatory environment offered by the state of Nevada, the statement said.

STATELINE, Nev. - When the Lakeside Inn announced its permanent closure in April 2020, speculation has been circulating about what would be built on the property. That speculation can now end as Barton Health has announced it has purchased the property. They closed escrow on Friday.
Barton Health said they will further its long-term goals of expanding access to medical care and widening an integrated, bi-state health system presence in the region to provide health and wellness services to a greater number of patients.

The list is determined by data prepared by Statista Inc., the respected global data research firm, and rates all hospitals on important quality and safety measures.

Chilean union federation issues strike call over pay demands
Chile’s Workers Unitary Central (CUT) labor federation called for a nationwide strike for April 30, the day before International Workers Day, to press for a wage rise and other demands. The call followed an April 15 CUT National Extended Council meeting of some 200 union officials.
The demands that will be put forward in the strike include a 500,000 peso (US$711) emergency rent payment, a freeze on food prices and a minimum monthly wage of 500,000 pesos. Most activities from nonattendance at telework sites to hanging of flags for victims of COVID-19,

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. Barton Health is expanding its relationship with UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento to offer more specialized care to newborns in the Lake Tahoe region.
The arrangement increases Barton’s ability to care for more at-risk newborns by providing increased access to UC Davis specialists and experts including a neonatologist, and neonatal specialists within the pharmacy, respiratory therapy and nutrition departments. Barton team members will have access to education opportunities through UC Davis Health to ensure training and new skill acquisition.
Dr. Lee Donohue, a neonatologist who specializes in the care of sick newborns, has joined the Barton medical staff to collaborate and provide medical expertise as Barton prepares to apply for an expanded license to include intensive care newborn services.
