Thursday evening, word broke from ESPN that Trae Young would not play in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals due to the foot injury he suffered in Game 3 of the series when stepping on the foot of an official.
ESPN Sources with @malika andrews: Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young (foot) is out for Game 5 vs. Bucks tonight. Young will continue to rehab with hopes of playing in the Eastern Conference Finals Game 6 on Saturday in Atlanta. Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 1, 2021
Young did some shooting on the court before the game (something he could have done on the practice court before Game 4 in Atlanta), but ultimately will reportedly not suit up Thursday evening for the Hawks. Young has not played since Game 3, when he came back from the locker room for the fourth quarter. The Hawks ultimately lost that game, but rebounded for a big win in Game 4 without him.

During a postseason defined by fallen superstars, the Atlanta Hawks showed they have what it takes to overcome the absence of a key piece to the puzzle.
The Hawks head into Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals at Milwaukee on Thursday after getting even at 2 in the series while playing without team leader Trae Young. Standout sixth man Lou Williams jumped into the starting lineup in Game 4 and recorded 21 points and eight assists as the Hawks topped the Bucks 110-88.
The Hawks will have to do it again as Young has been ruled out for Game 5, ESPN reported.
