This successful campaign was done in collaboration with Congresswoman Lori Trahan and Congressman Jim McGovern. “Through our partnership with Montachusett Home Care and Congressman McGovern, we were able to collect more than 700 cards for older adults in our community experiencing isolation because of the pandemic. It’s my hope that these kind words will bring comfort to those who are unable to spend the holidays with their loved ones,” Congresswoman Trahan

Spencer and Bryan Goodchild UMass Medical School Communications December 15, 2020 Frontline health care workers employed by UMass Memorial Health Care are among those expected to receive vaccinations against the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 this week, possibly as early as Thursday, Dec. 17. UMass Memorial, along with other hospitals and health care institutions, including long term care facilities, will provide vaccines to staff and care providers according to guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Vaccination for health care workers isn’t mandatory, but it is “strongly recommended” by UMass Memorial and the commonwealth that frontline caregivers consider getting the vaccination to protect themselves and patients they care for from COVID.

Four Central Mass hospitals receive top safety rating

Four hospitals in Central Massachusetts received an A for safety in twice-a-year reviews by a national group on Monday. The Leapfrog Group s fall reviews include As for Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Marlborough Hospital and Milford Regional Medical Center. Among the area s largest hospitals, Saint Vincent Hospital got a B and UMass Memorial Medical Center s Memorial and University campuses in Worcester both earned a C. The Leapfrog Group scores more than 2,600 hospitals on a grade rank of patient safety based on publicly available data on prevention of medical errors, infections and other potential harms on patients. Of 58 hospitals rated across Massachusetts, 33 received As, 14 got Bs, and 11 got Cs.
