Attempted carjacking with gun reported in east Columbia KMIZ COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) The Columbia Police Department said officers were unable to find the perpetrator of an attempted carjacking Monday night. According to a news release, police responded to the 4700 block of Clark Lane around 8:40 p.m. Monday after a man said someone tried to steal his vehicle. The victim told officers a man tapped what appeared to be a handgun on the window and told the victim to give him the vehicle. The driver was able to get away before calling the police. No one was injured. When police arrived at the scene in east Columbia, they were unable to find anyone matching the victim s description of the perpetrator.

Columbia Police respond to attempted carjacking

Officials say it happened around 8:40 p.m. According to a news release, the victim said someone came up to his car and tapped on the window with what appeared to be a handgun. The victim said the suspect demanded the vehicle. The victim said he was able to drive away before calling 911.Â The victim described the suspect as a tall, thin Black male with facial hair. Police say that is the only description he had.Â Police say they searched the area but could not find anyone matching the description. No one was hurt. The department says it is investigating, and says anyone with information should contact the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.Â

It happened at around 8:30 a.m. in the 2200 Block of Clark Lane near Towne Drive.Â Shots fired at the corner of Clark and Towne. Three people have been transported to the hospital. He is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Two women, ages 19 and 36, were treated for gunshot wounds. One has serious injuries and the other has minor injuries. All subjects were transported to a local hospital. KOMU 8 reporters on the scene said there are at least a dozen scene markers outside the home.Â
