Day Trippin near southwest Missouri: Lost Valley Trail
Neosho Daily News
For the latest installment of the Day Trippin series, I went a little bit off the beaten path to find my next adventure.
I have to give credit to Reddit user u/benstonevideos for posting some great pictures of his adventures on a subreddit that I follow. In the comments of one of his posts, he mentioned that the Lost Valley Trail in Arkansas as one of his favorite hikes in the Ozarks and that was enough for me.
Unlike last week, when I meant to go to Devils Canyon Scenic Area Trail & Bushwhack and ended up exploring White Rock Mountain, I made sure to double check the directions this time. Apple Maps failed me once again, so I reached out to Ben Stone and he let me know that Google Maps led him straight to the trailhead for Lost Valley.

Queensland government-owned energy giant Stanwell Corporation says the company’s future must be in renewables and storage rather than coal, in a delicately-worded statement that rang an early death knell for the company’s two coal-fired power plants.
In a statement on Wednesday, chief executive Richard Van Breda gave few concrete details of exactly how the coal-heavy company – which suffered a $720 million plunge in profit last year – would transition away from coal.
But he made it clear he saw no future for coal beyond the lifespan of Stanwell’s two coal plants, which he said the company would use more “flexibly” over the course of the transition, potentially putting them in “standby” mode before they were retired altogether.

Rockhampton region a renewable energy hot spot
Rockhampton has emerged as one of the nation’s leading renewable energy generation points, with the region named as the possible home to four wind farms, a solar farm, and a battery storage complex.
The proposed wind farms will be located north of Kalapa, between Westwood and Mount Morgan, and in the vicinity of the Mount Hopeful television transmitter station.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the building of these new facilities will give the Rockhampton region the opportunity to play an important part in the generation of renewable energy.
“Since the construction of the Stanwell Power Station in 1996, electricity generation has been one of the strengths in our region,” Mayor Williams said.
