WE LEARNED YESTERDAY FROM THE STATE THAT ZERO DOSES WILL BE ALLOCATED TO FLAGLER COUNTY THIS WEEK. CLAIRE: HEALTH DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATOR BOB SNYDER WAS AS DISAPPOINTED AS ANYONE, MAKING THAT ANNOUNCEMENT AT THE MORNING S COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING. SO FAR, FLAGLER COUNTY HAS BEEN ALLOCATED 1700 DOSES, ALL WHICH HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED TO HEALTH CARE WORKERS, FIRST RESPONDERS, AND SENIORS 65 AND OLDER. OFFICIALS HOPED THEY WOULD BE HOLDING MORE DRIVE THROUGH VACCINATION CLINICS THIS WEEK. BUT WITH NO NEW STATE SUPPLIES RIGHT NOW, IT’S A NO GO. AdventHealth started immunizing staff against COVID-19 at the Daytona Beach facility this week.Halifax Health has now received 1,800 doses of the Moderna vaccine. Dr. Kent Harman didn t expect to have the starring role as Halifax Health began immunizing staff, but the intensive care services director was ready, willing and confident.“The vaccine is safe, and it s very unlikely to have significant side effects in the vast majority of people,” Harman said.Halifax has treated about 550 COVID-19 patients. Currently, there are 23 getting more critical care, and the front-line workers have been in the COVID-19 unit day in and day out. The arrival of a vaccine will certainly be a boost to those life-savers.“An awful lot of individuals including pharmacy that are in the unit everyday working, so this is by any stretch of the imagination a huge team effort,” Harman said.Though medical professionals hope a vaccine is the beginning of the end of the pandemic, they warn that the pro

CNN– During the pandemic, restaurant workers have put themselves in a precarious situation just to earn a living. In Florida, one community took time to recognize a fast food employee who they know, simply, as “Taco Bell Joe.”

As Alex Russell, a teacher and the oldest son of Tom Russell’s, Flagler Palm Coast High School’s principal who died of Covid-19 on Dec. 9 at 61,
addressed the assembly at this evening’s memorial at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Daytona Beach, he spoke of an exercise he has his students do routinely: writing their own eulogy.
“Think about what you want somebody to say at your funeral,” Alex said. “Man, here, what I’ve heard here so far, Dad, you did it, cause that was an A-plus in my class. So great job.”
